Saturdays match against Church Village FC was abandoned after a torrential downfall which resulted in the pitch being unplayable!!
The match started brightly with an experienced Church Village side scoring early on following indecision in defence to try to play the ball out rather than clearing the ball away. 1-0
Church Village were creating havoc so manager, Martin Wilson, reverted back to a 4-4-2 formation. Following this the Cav’s started to battle back taking back the midfield dominance.
The match carried on through a torrential downpour with the pitch resembling a rice field in places, however, the referee consulted the two captains and said he’d play on and make a further decision at half time.
A James Hurley free kick from the left resulted in the ball cannoning off the far post into the keeper and creeping into the net. 1-1
After this the Cav’s were taking control and another free kick, this time from right, saw Hurley curling another free kick to score in the far corner. 2-1.
Unfortunately the pitch was making play almost impossible with the ball holding up in the puddles and again after consulting with the two captains the match was abandoned after 35 minute’s.
Unfortunately the result, assist and goal by Hurley doesn’t stand with match being replayed on Monday, April 4th.
Kick off 6.00pm at the Wern.
