7 vs 2
The game started off quite evenly, Nelson playing some good football and Trecenydd were getting forward fast and looking to turn the Cavs defence.
Lewis Lawford was causing problems down the left hand side and after a few half chances the Cavs took the lead after some neat build up play Corey Haines latched onto an inch perfect through ball from Dan Lewis to fire home his first goal for the club.
The lead didn’t last too long as Trecenydd moved the ball forward quickly getting in behind the Nelson defence to level up. Lawford continued to cause problems putting in a number of dangerous crosses, one of which was headed home by Hari Davies but the goal was ruled out for an apparent push.
The Cavs soon took the lead after a Trecenydd attack some quick attacking football saw Lewis again the provider this time finding Ryan Donovan who brought the ball down and lobbed the keeper to get his third in as many games. Donovan again went close before Davies extended the lead with a goal his and the teams performance deserved.
Dan Falconer’s through ball opened up the Trecenydd defence and when Lawford’s strike hit the post Davies headed home the rebound. The Cavs made it 4 not long before half time after Falconer headed away a free-kick in his own box a quick break and some good link up play saw Falconer fire home at the other end. 4-1 HT
The second half started in similar vein as the first, The Cavs on top but Trecenydd a threat whilst getting the ball forward quickly. With neither keeper really troubled it was a penalty that extended Nelson’s lead after Haines was taking out late in the box Falconer fires home from the spot. More chances came with Donovan, Haines and Davies going close before the best individual goal of the game came to further extend Nelson’s lead, after some neat build up play James Radusin who was having a great half hit an unstoppable 25 yard rocket straight in the top corner.
Trecenydd were still attacking well but Nelson defended solidly until they conceded a debatable penalty to make it 6-2. Some more quick football saw Falconer fire home after latching onto a through ball to get his hat rick and make it 7-2 FT.
A solid display from the Cavs with some great goals to take us through. MOM goes to Dan Falconer for an excellent all round display with a hat rick to add to his display.
