A dominant second half display saw the Cavs progress to the third round of the South Wales FA Senior Cup with an emphatic victory at home to Cwrt Y Vil FC.
It was the visitors who started the brighter of the two teams, winning every loose ball and playing some good football, Matthew Farr was twice called upon to make good saves with Vil missing another good chance to open the scoring.  As the half went on Nelson started to come into the game and missed some chances of their own, Corey Haines and Matthew Greenaway going close.  As time went on Nelson became the stronger of the two teams, with more possession and only the final ball letting them down.  HT. 0-0
The second half the Cavs put on a fantastic display which I’m sure pleased the large crowd in attendance.
From the first minute Nelson pressed out of possession and were dominant in possession.
Haines gave Nelson a deserved lead after latching onto a through ball and curling past the visiting keeper.  It was soon two after some neat build up play Lewis Lawford fed an inch perfect pass for Ceri Clingo to fire home. 2-0
Nelson were dominant, and any Vil attack was cut out by a solid defensive display.
Haines made it three as he headed home Clingo’s corner and more half chances came before Clingo made it four following in a fumble from the keeper.
Substitute Hari Davies made it five with an excellent and well drilled finish after some near build up play for another substitute Liam Dellana made it two in two for himself and six for the team as he latched onto Clingo’s through ball to fire past the keeper.
Some frustration set in from the visitors who started to put some late and silly challenges in before Clingo rounded off the scoring with the goal of the game, he jinked past two defenders before curling one in the top corner from the edge of the box.
Full Time 7-0
An excellent second half display against a decent outfit with some stand out performances – Man of the Match goes to Ceri Clingo who caused problems all day, scoring a hat rick and getting a few assists.
