The Cavs bounced back from mid week defeat to pick up all 3 points with a comfortable win at home to Cardiff Cosmopolitan.
After a sloppy opening 15 minutes Nelson quickly settled into the game and started to take control, creating a few half chances.  Cosmos looked quick on the counter but The Cavs were solid at the back.  The first chance of note came after some neat build up play Matthew Greenaway struck a shot from 20 yards which was really well saved by the Cosmos keeper.  Corey Haines was also denied from a good save by the visiting keeper who also made a good save from Liam Dellanna’s follow up, although he injured himself in the process.  It wasn’t long before Nelson had a deserved lead Cameron Szpadt dribbled out from the back and lifted a lovely ball that Haines ran onto and finish.  No more major chances of note as the half ended.
1-0 HT.
The Cavs made a strong start to the second half, Dan Lewis, Tom Woods and Greenaway were on top in midfield and Dellanna and Haines’ runs were causing the home side problems.  It wasn’t long before the Cavs extended their lead after a few half chances were missed Dellanna latched onto Lewis’ through ball and after his initial shot was well saved by the replacement keeper he followed up to finish and make it 2-0.  Haines soon made it 3-0 and the Cavs were looking comfortable.  That was until a Cosmos long ball was not dealt with by the Nelson defence allowing their player a free run at goal to finish.  This sent the Cavs into panic mode for the next 10 minutes, with Cosmos missing one glorious chance to narrow the lead and creating a few half chances of their own.  Just as it looked more and more likely Cosmos would close the gap Woods spotted Greenaway’s run from midfield and played an inch perfect pass for his midfield partner to slot home and all but secure the 3 points.  More chances came with Ben Lintern, Gareth Morris and Ryan Donovan going close as the Cavs comfortably saw out the rest of the game for a well deserved 3 points.
Man of the match was a tough decision with a good all round team performance and some stand our performances from Greenaway, Haines and Lewis, although it goes to Lewis Lawford for a hardworking and determined performance.
