The Cavs took all three points in a comfortable win against local rivals Tir Y Berth at the Wern.

Both teams started equally and Corey Haines was ink fly to have a goal ruled out for offside before Ceri Clingo drew an excellent save from the Berth keeper, who also injured himself in the process.

The rest of the half was pretty scrappy both teams were quite wasteful in possession, tackles were flying in from both teams which added to the competitiveness but there was not much good football being played.  Berth seemed the hungrier of the two teams and forced a few corners, they got a goal from a free kick as Nelson switched off leaving Birth’s attacker to challenge Farr and then roll the lose ball into an empty net.  The Cavs upped their game slightly and created the odd half chance before Dan Falconer was pulled back as he broke into the box, he dusted himself down and neatly tucked away the resulting penalty.  Minutes later in form Corey Haines have the Cavs perhaps an underserved lead after he broke into the box and fired home.

2-1 Half-Time.

The message from the management staff was clear, the first half was not good enough.

The second half was a different story with the Cavs putting in a comfortable performance and strolling to victory.  Early on the chances came with one cleared off the line, some good saves from the stand in Berth keeper who put in a man of the match display and hitting both posts after a great break. Haines extended the lead after rushing through one on one, Ceri Clingo has a goal ruled out for offside before he added the fourth and then Falconer made it 5 with another penalty after Liam Dellana was chopped down.  The Cavs missed chances in between goals but credit to Berth who never gave up, and had some half chances themselves without really troubling Farr in the Nelson goal.

Man of the Match goes to Dan Falconer, two goals and as always an all action display in midfield.
