The Cavs eventually cruised into the next round on a day where it looked like it might not quite have been.  Nelson started the stronger of the two teams getting in behind the Aber defence early on to create a few half chances.  Aber were a threat themselves going forward but the Cavs were on top and started to create chance after chance.  Ryan Donovan hit the bar from close range when he should have scored, Corey Haines and Joey Brain drew good saves from the Aber keeper before Haines fired over from close range when he should have scored, before missing a number of 1 on 1 opportunities.  Credit to Nelson who kept playing their football but it looked like a goal wouldn’t come as the half ended 0-0.
Second half continued in the same vain as the first, Ceri Clingo fired over from close range when he should have scored before the in form Aber keeper denied Clingo with another good save.  Matthew Farr pulled off a good save at the other end before more Nelson chances came and went, the Cavs were either guilty of a poor final ball, poor finishing or found the in form Aber keeper hard to beat.  Nelson eventually got the lead after Brain won the ball back from the opposition Clingo rounded the keeper to slot home and finally give the Cavs a deserved lead.  The lead was soon doubled Donovan cut inside his marked rifled one into the top corner.  A few more chances came before 16 year old Liam Dellana latched onto a through ball and rifled home in just his second competitive game for the club.  Matthew Greenaway and Brandon Thomas both went close before Thomas combined well with Clingo who’s inch perfect cross was volley home by Kevin Downes to round off the scoring.  4-0 FT.
A comfortable win in the end with so many chances missed, but credit to the boys who kept playing the right way and got the win to take us into the next round. Credit to Aber who made it difficult throughout despite being on the back foot.
Man of the Match goes to Corey Haines who caused problems all game and put in an excellent display, doing everything but scoring.
