Nelson went away to Tir y Berth in the cup wanting to progress and in good spirits.
It was a great start as Brandon found space down the right put in a lovely cross to the back post where Lewis was waiting and finished well for 1:0.
Nelson dominated the early exchanges but couldn’t add to their lead.
Tir y Berth bounced back with a corner and three attempts at goal later and it was scrambled in for 1:1.
Tir y Berth enjoyed their best spell of the match but Alex was in fine form and made some great saves.
Nelson bounced back and Brandon again made a run down the right and cut inside past the defender in the box who brought him down and it was a penalty.
Morris stepped up put it away for 2:1.
It stated that way till half time.
Second half and Tir y Berth were getting frustrated by Nelson’s resilience and were soon to go down to ten men.
This was the worse thing that could happen as Nelson lost their shape and composure and Tir y Berth lifted themselves.
An equaliser soon came and it was 2:2.
This made Nelson wake up and they pushed on trying to win it.
There was goals disallowed for Jamie and Kenan following very tight offside calls.
It went to extra time and Nelson dominated.
The football was sublime at times with some lovely one touch passes and chances came for Mitchell, Jamie and Kenan but they weren’t converted.
Then with seconds left and a penalty shoot out looming a simple long ball went through and the striker was in and finished it well.
It was all over in the cruelest fashion and it was 3:2.
Nelson gave a great performance and a great account of themselves it was cruel and unlucky.
Man of the match was Gareth Marchart who dominated the midfield match and won possession and started all that was good with the performance.
